Why is getting ready for anything such a challenge? This morning the alarms did not go off because of a wind storm that for some reason knocked the power out momentarily in the middle of the night. Unfortunately we were all late and the girls were just not in the mood for going to school. Hannah eventually decided that her outfit was cool and she wanted to wear it and show it off, but Katie on the other hand was dead set on staying home, refused to get out of bed, faked a cough, stated she was just too tired and that she couldn't find anything to wear. When I went to discuss that she could not stay home as all the bigger people in the house would be gone, she simply stated that she would be fine at home alone. She told me that she would lock the doors and just watch TV and she would be fine. When I said how are you going to eat? She replied, I'll just bring in a chair form the table to get the stuff I want and I won't cook. When I asked her what she would do if a bad guy came, she replied, "the doors will be locked but I will hide in theattic and they won't find me!" When I asked what she would do if she got hurt, she replied" I'll get a bandaid!" When I said what if you get hurt and you can't move? She replied "that's ok, I'll just lay there and watch TV or go to sleep!". Finally I said "Katie, you have 5 minutes to get your school clothes on or I'm taking you in your pajamas!" She stomped her feet, sputtered a bit, and FINALLY got dressed, but unfortunately it did not take 5 minutes...NO it was 20 minutes! We had pant issues, sock issues, then of course there are the shoes that don't fit right and then GOD FORBID we should brush our teeth with out making a scene. Needless to say, it takes over an hour for 3 people to get out of the house! AND THAT'S RUSHING! WHEW~ I'm tired!
